About the YZF-R1 RACE

The R1 is an icon. Proven on the track, in the last decade alone it has won a WorldSBK championship, two Endurance World Championship titles and numerous championships at national level. Inspired by the YZR-M1 MotoGP bike, the R1 RACE reaches even higher levels of on-track performance with new aerodynamic winglets, upgraded suspension and Brembo braking system.

RACE DEVELOPED LEGACY

Designed to demonstrate the R1’s true racing prowess on the closed circuit, the R1 RACE is a track-only model featuring cutting-edge technology, which has been developed from knowledge gained through Yamaha’s involvement in racing at the highest level. The remarkable 998cc 4-cylinder crossplane engine is a direct descendent of the YZR-M1 motor, and the R1's sophisticated electronics package was developed working directly with Yamaha's race teams. The new-look, MotoGP-style aerodynamic winglets maximise the effects of the R1's anti-wheelie electronics as well as improving front-end feel and feedback when braking and cornering, offering next-level track performance without compromising the streamlined and evocative R1 design.
